About
SLBC functions as a comprehensive platform for trade facilitation, business development, and professional networking between Sri Lanka and the UAE. The Council provides essential services including mentorship, advisory support, market intelligence, and regulatory guidance to help Sri Lankan companies navigate the UAE business environment. Through strategic initiatives such as trade delegations, business forums, B2B matchmaking events, and sector-specific workshops, SLBC actively promotes bilateral trade across key industries including IT services, hospitality and tourism, agri-exports, construction and engineering, and education and training.
A notable initiative is the SLBC Women's Wing, which empowers Sri Lankan women professionals and entrepreneurs through dedicated networking events, leadership development programs, and mentorship opportunities. The Council works closely with UAE authorities, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, Sri Lankan government agencies, and the Sri Lankan Embassy and Consulate to enhance trade opportunities, resolve regulatory challenges, and strengthen the economic partnership between the two nations.
Mission & Mandate
The Sri Lankan Business Council is dedicated to fostering robust trade relationships between Sri Lanka and the UAE by uniting the business community, facilitating mutual opportunities, and promoting sustainable economic growth.
Core Objectives:
- Trade & Investment Promotion: Encourage, promote, support, and maintain trade, investments, technical and economic cooperation, employment, and tourism between Sri Lanka and the UAE
- Business Facilitation & Networking: Provide opportunities for Sri Lankan companies with a presence in the UAE to regularly meet and exchange business information, acting as a forum for B2B connections and SME coordination
- Guidance & Support Services: Assist and guide Sri Lankan enterprises and business individuals in establishing or expanding their trading operations in the UAE, including regulatory support, market insights, and company registration assistance
- Strategic Partnerships & Liaison: Work in conjunction with the Sri Lanka Trade Office, UAE Chambers of Commerce, Sri Lankan Export Development Board, Sri Lanka Tourist Board, and government organizations to develop bilateral Middle East and Sri Lankan trade and corporate investment
- Capacity Building & Knowledge Transfer: Encourage and sponsor education, personnel exchange, and training schemes at the private sector level to mutually enhance experience, education, and capabilities between Sri Lanka and the UAE
- Advocacy & Research: Conduct research on matters affecting bilateral trade objectives and provide advocacy support to address challenges faced by Sri Lankan businesses in the UAE market
- Government Relations: Assist and liaise with the Sri Lankan Embassy Abu Dhabi and Consulate General Dubai to further develop and enhance trade opportunities on matters of mutual interest
